Hallway Renovations ...

This is what I have been doing all weekend... renovating. Really not all that enjoyable and trust me there is A LOT and I'll repeat A LOT of paint to be removed. Oh the joys of DIY. If anyone manages to win the lottery please send some our way so we can hire someone to do the work !!

This kinda work is not good. Last week my nails were great, but now they are suffering ... boo.

Anyhow, I plough on with a smile upon my face as this is what I have in mind...

Cool eh... I especially love the chandelier in picture number 2 simple, but oh so cute !

I want to really add a little interest to the hallway with some interesting frames and pictures. Whilst at the same time making sure to keep the scheme subtle and light. Light grey, white and black are tickling my fancy. Certainly a good colour combination for our narrow stairwell or so I believe.

There has been a lot of decorating this week. My dad came around to put up our new wallpaper in the lounge which I absolutely adore and there has been a lot of painting in the guest room in fact I was covered from head to toe in paint for much of the week. And to top it all off the bathroom is almost finished. You cannot understand how relieved I am to say that. It has taken us ages to find a nice floor and blind for the window which we both like and finally we have. The flat is really starting to come together. But like always there are a few tweaks that need to be made. Like finding a wallpaper for the chimney breast in our bedroom. The wall is so plain as you can see from the above picture, it just needs a little something, same goes for the lounge bookcase, I really need to stylise it. I feel so blah about it right now it's unreal.

The Lounge which is in actual fact still in the making !

Time for a wee update. I have been a bit slack this week with the posting which is mainly due to the fact that I have been so friggin cold. We are having Arctic conditions threatening our every move right now here in England. Who can possibly work in sub zero temperatures ? Moi ? Certainly not ! My brain does nothing but go on standby during such times I mean I think I should have emigrated years ago to hotter climates ! In actual fact I believe (and who would not agree with me) that it should be made illegal to even work in such conditions ?! Ha that would be so fabulous ! Sorry I can't come to work today as I'll be arrested ! LOL !

OK Chrissi seriously you are losing it. Pipe down already and get back to the topic 'The Lounge' ! Righty ho then ! The thing is I would have rather have said it with pictures but a bit of a hiccup and I seem to have misplaced all of the pictures of the lounge in the making; or did I even take any ?? Hmmm .... there's a blonde moment. Bloody hell I have no idea ! Why is it I can't work with both a windows functioning computer and a macbook all at the same time ? Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me ? Anyhow, if I do find any photos I'll post them later on.

In the meantime, I will leave you with a before and after. Although I am not completely satisfied with the end result, but due to financial means I am having to put the lounge and its interiors on hold for a little while :( Shame as I have seen so many things I would like to buy ! But I guess that is always the way when you don't have the money !!!

Within the next month I really need to work on how to make my photos more pretty looking; they are just so blah. Does anyone with a Apple have any suggestions for software that might help me fancy up my pictures a tad bit ? I mean just look at them they are soooo boring !! Any help would be tremendous.

The Kitchen Now !

Well today has been one heck of a day. I think I am coming down with something AGAIN sniffle sniffle I had it in mind that I would be in bed by 9pm to help with the 6am start but hey look it's 5 minutes before 9 and I am itching to give you a wee little up date on the kitchen as is now, so it looks like the early night has been thrown out the window yet again oops !

The kitchen was settled over a year ago, it took a lot of hard work; nothing seems as easy as we once thought it would be ! This flat is so freakin uneven ! Everything is out, but it seems that my fiance and his 'i'll just cheat a little here hunny it'll be OK ' seems to actually work (sometimes). I am still a little shaken when he makes comments such as this cause in actual fact his cheating doesn't always go according to plan ! Remember the wonky shelf in the bedroom sweetness or the upside down door that you hadn't noticed you had put the wrong way round ?!

I can sit here and laugh at it now, but boy have we had our fair share of domestics over the renovations. I mean can you just imagine when he says 'Babe they won't even notice' (oh no) 'no of course not sweetie no one will see that the door is the wrong way up and that shelf is all off, you'd have to be bloody drunk to think it's normal!'. But hey ho after me throwing a tantrum like a deranged toddler (and believe me it seems like i HAVE to behave this way) I finally have the faults / mistakes corrected. Instantly, I am restored and I am now once again in love, not only with my partner (who actually wants to have me locked up in a psycho ward for my crazed behaviour now), but also with my wonderful brand spanking new kitchen. So many dinner dates oh yes there will be plenty !

One Step Forward

One Step forward

It has been a long time now that I have fantasied about having a blog that would include all things that I am passionate about. I spend far too much time scouring blogs and pinterest looking for 'pretty things' that make me smile. Had a hard day ? Nothing but a good cup of tea and a small dose of that 'something pretty' couldn't solve. Pretty things make me happy, I will be honest about that. I would fill my entire flat with those 'pretty things' if it weren't for my fiancé ranting on at me about 'this place is looking far too girly for my liking sweetie and what on earth are those little bits of pink tape doing on the wall ?' Oops.

So you see I need people that can relate to my 'so-called' bizarre obsessions with rainbow coloured sticky tape and the random placing of 'strange paper things' found hanging around my flat. There will be many articles and posts not all original as is the case with many blogs but credit will go to those that are the key founders of the many cool things that I find. Sure there will be lots of tea and cake, (I am a English after all) even recipes to try, photographs of our newly refurbished 'girly' home, and a lot of random babbling cause boy do I like to ramble !
